LEVERAGE
Here's a quick little note sheet for calculating leverage components of the firm.  
It assumes we are given only one income statement (like on the final exam).  It
also assumes the same "standard" account names that we have been using in class
all semester.
 
Degree of Operating Leverage (DOL) =  Gross / EBIT
Degree of Financial Leverage (DFL) = EBIT / [EBIT - { interest + (pref. div/[1-tax rate])}
Degree of Total Leverage (DTL) = DOL X DFL
