Leaf Drop Exercise--Written Assignment

Details:

  1. Send me an email with the following information (do this in a vertical column so I can cut and paste more easilty):
    1. Observer (last name only)
    2. Tree species
    3. Latitude
    4. Longitude
    5. Elevations (meters)
    6. Exposure (north, south, east or west)
    7. Slope (steep, etc.)
    8. Time of 50% loss of leaves
    9. Time of 50% change in colors
    10. Time of 100% loss of leaves
    11. Time of 100% change in colors
    12. Notes (any unusual conditions)
  2. Write a short paper (essentially a merged results/discussion section) describing what happened to your leaves. Use the above column of data as your results section. I have linked the 1995 results file to this page, so you can compare your outcomes to those of the 1995 students. You can determine patterns of weather by going to the PSC Weather Center page and looking at the historical records maintained on that page. If you can think of some way of graphically displaying the deta, do so. The narrative does not have to be too long.
