Muir at Martinez
Muir's
life at Martinez gave him both the money and time to fully develop
the thoughts he first had during his time in the Sierras. When he
settled in the home at Martinez, he was transformed from Sierra
roustabout to a farming homebody.
The home at Martinez offered many things for Muir, but one of those
things was the peace and quite of his study. It is in this room where he
first began to write the articles and books that later were to provide
the clout on matters related to conservation.
