Read this first. . .
Welcome to the premier issue of Voices from the Center. Some of you may be shocked and surprised that this has finally come to be. Others may be wondering,"why is this here?"
Individually, we all hold our own truths. Pressures exist that cause us to keep certain truths and experiences to ourselves, in isolation, believing we are the only ones feeling this way. Creative writing is one way to express what we know - in all its contradiction and complexity. Writing is also a way of shedding light where there may have been darkness. Putting these voices together allows them to illuminate each other.
We hope these stories and poems, and the magazine as a whole, will be illuminating for you. Please feel free to contribute your work to future editions.
